Classic Beauty Meets Classic Beauty - Dance Photography
Classic Beauty Meets Classic Beauty:
Here's the second photo in our 3-part series about Philadelphia Dance Photo Project:
The Setting: Beautiful.
University of Pennsylvania’s Morris Arboretum boasts rolling green gardens, art, architecture, flowers, and of course, trees... right here in Philadelphia. Its landscapes offer an escape from downtown, and of course, flawless backdrops for photography! This photo was taken in the “Temple of Love” in the Swan Lake area of the Arboretum.
The Photography: Again, Beautiful.
The first photo in our three part series on the Philadelphia Dance Photo Project featured the bold urban background of Philadelphia’s Center City. It’s hard to believe that this photo, taken by photographer Juan Irizarry, is also set in Philadelphia. Irizarry’s ability to adapt to various settings, to capture the beauty in dancers of all types, and to pull inspiration from a variety of photographic styles illustrates his dynamic nature as a dance photographer. Check out samples from his vibrant collection of photos, where no two shoots are alike on the Philadelphia Dance Photo Project Facebook Page.
The Ballerina: The Most Beautiful Part of All.
Ballerina Jennifer Resino-Gordon strikes a strong, but perfectly graceful pose. In speaking to Irizarry, I discovered what I think is the most beautiful part of the photograph, something hidden in the photo. The gorgeous plum tutu that Jennifer wears was actually a gift to her, made by her own mother.
